Being a former student and an early user of WaySync, I’ve seen the software evolve into a truly powerful and practical tool for traffic signal coordination. Now, with over ten years of experience as a signal timing practitioner and project manager using the software, I can confidently say that WaySync has been instrumental in streamlining our retiming efforts across more than 400 traffic signals in the Reno/Sparks region. The desktop version, WaySync-D, allows our team to efficiently develop and manage multiple timing plans along major corridors and maintain a clear record of what’s implemented in the field. Where the program really shines is in its mobile version, WaySync-M. It enables seamless QA/QC in the field—making it easy to verify that developed timing plans are properly implemented to the controllers. Users can quickly identify issues such as signals stuck in transition, clock mismatches, or incorrect offsets. The dynamic time-space diagram in the mobile version, along with video and voice recording capabilities, makes it simple to perform before-and-after drive-throughs and document timing performance. I highly recommend WaySync to signal timing practitioners of all experience levels. It’s not only a powerful troubleshooting and signal coordination tool but also an excellent way to better understand how complex signal systems operate. In fact, this software has even revealed new insights into how some of our controllers function in the field.
